||In 1956 the American graphic designer Al Moore created Tiger Woman for the Tigra cigarette manufactured by S.A. Tabalux in Merxem-Antwerp. Black stripes against a fiery red background reach out from a woman's face with feline eyes right to the edges of the poster, like the skin of a tiger, the brand logo. Thirteen colours with subtle gradations went into making this lithograph. The Tigra cigarette was the subject of many poster campaigns. Following on from Paul Colin who used an impressive tiger's head in 1949, B. Villemot used zebra stripes the same year as Al Moore, but this time they were used to fill in the outline of a smoker.
